CRE Technology & Systems Recruiting and Staffing

CRE Talent Group recruits and staffs CRE technology and systems professionals: the people who implement, run, and improve the IWMS, lease administration, and workplace platforms that corporate real estate teams depend on. We fill these roles for corporate real estate teams, CRE technology vendors, and implementation partners, on a contract or direct-hire basis.

Why it is hard

What makes CRE technology hiring hard

  • The work spans two disciplines

Strong candidates understand real estate processes such as leases, critical dates, and space allocation, and also understand configuration, data, and integrations. Many people have depth in one and only exposure to the other.

  • Titles say little about skills

An "IWMS analyst" at one company is a power user; at another, the same title configures workflows and writes integrations. Resumes rarely make the difference clear.

  • Platform and module experience varies

Someone who has run the lease module for years may have little space or maintenance experience, and experience on one platform transfers only partly to another.

  • The talent pool is small and in demand

Much of the experienced talent works at vendors and implementation partners, so in-house roles compete with consulting career paths and project-based work.

For employers

What to look for in a CRE technology hire

Use these as a starting point for your job description and interview plan.

  • Process knowledge in business terms

Can they explain how lease data feeds lease accounting, or how space data drives chargeback, without falling back on system jargon?

  • Hands-on configuration experience

Ask what they personally built or changed: workflows, forms, reports, data loads. Using a system and configuring it are different skills.

  • Data discipline

Look for experience cleaning, migrating, and validating data, and setting standards that keep it clean afterward.

  • Integration exposure

For platform owners and technical roles, experience with ERP, general ledger, HR, and single sign-on integrations matters.

  • Stakeholder and vendor skills

The best candidates translate between real estate, finance, and IT, train users, and hold vendors to their commitments.

How we evaluate

How we evaluate CRE technology candidates

Every candidate is assessed on the same four dimensions, written up in a candidate assessment that comes with their resume. For this specialty, that means:

Relevant experience
Which platforms and modules they have worked in, from which side (client, vendor, or implementation partner), and at what portfolio scale.
Functional expertise
We ask candidates to walk through configuration decisions, data models, and how lease or space data flows into finance and reporting.
Delivery capability
Implementations, upgrades, migrations, and data cleanups they delivered, and exactly what their role was in each.
Role fit
Whether the role is a platform owner, a builder, or an analyst, and whether that matches what the candidate does best and wants next.

Engagement models

Contract staffing or direct hire?

We fill these roles on either basis. Here is where each tends to fit.

Contract staffing

Contract CRE technology staff work well for defined, time-bound system work.

Often a good fit for

  • IWMS implementations, upgrades, and module rollouts
  • Data migrations and lease abstraction backlogs
  • Covering a system administrator vacancy or leave
  • Building a specific set of reports or integrations

Direct-hire recruiting

Direct hire fits roles that own the platform and its data over the long term.

Often a good fit for

  • IWMS and CRE systems managers
  • Ongoing data, reporting, and analytics roles
  • Workplace technology leads
  • Vendor-side product and customer success roles

Not sure which fits? Choose "Not sure" on the Hire Talent form and we will recommend an approach based on the work.

FAQ

CRE Technology & Systems hiring questions

What does an IWMS manager do?

An IWMS manager owns the integrated workplace management system a corporate real estate team uses for leases, space, projects, and maintenance. The role covers configuration, upgrades, data quality, user support, and the vendor relationship. In smaller teams, the same person often builds the reports leadership relies on.

Should we use a contractor or a full-time hire for an IWMS implementation?

Implementations are a strong fit for contract staff because the workload peaks during configuration, data migration, and testing, then drops. Many teams pair contract implementation help with a permanent hire who will own the platform after go-live. That way the knowledge built during the project stays with your team.

Do candidates need experience on our specific platform?

For short contract work, experience on the same platform and module saves real time and is usually worth requiring. For permanent roles, strong process knowledge and configuration experience on a comparable platform often transfer well. Our assessment states how closely a candidate's platform experience matches yours.

Do you recruit for CRE technology vendors and implementation partners?

Yes. We recruit implementation consultants, solutions consultants, customer success managers, and product roles that need corporate real estate domain knowledge. Each candidate is assessed on how well they understand the occupier teams your product serves.
